House Votes To Hold A.G. Holder In Contempt Of Congress

Earlier this week the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee voted to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt.  Today, the whole House voted on the criminal contempt charge, and it passed 255-67.  One lawmaker voted Not Present.  Seventeen Democrats crossed over to join the Republicans, and two Republicans voted on the side of the Democrats.

This large step was taken because the Department of Justice and the attorney general refused to hand over a large number of documents linked to the failed ‘Fast and Furious‘ operation.  The House tried for months to work with the department and Eric Holder, but they fought.

Attorney General Eric Holder is now the first sitting cabinet member to be held in contempt of Congress.

Now that the vote has passed, the Congress will get the much-needed documents to solve ‘Fast and Furious’.  And the American public will find out what our attorney general, our president and many others have tried to hide for a year.
