Rick Santorum Sweeps Alabama And Mississippi

Leading up to Tuesday night, all of the polls and all of the media outlet said that Rick Santorum was losing momentum and was going to lose Alabama and Mississippi.

Tonight, they were all stunned into silence as Rick Santorum came out and defeated the odds yet again.  Taking Alabama by a 6% gap, and narrowly taking Mississippi from Newt Gingrich with 33& to 31%.  In both states Newt Gingrich took second, Mitt Romney claimed 3rd, and Ron Paul was left in last place.

This pushes the fact that Romney cannot do well in the southern states.  These results also make his point from the other day moot, stating that Rick Santorum is at the “desperate end of his campaign”.  Romney seems to be becoming the desperate candidate right now.  What also is hurting him, is that he continues to greatly outspend Rick Santorum, but he continues to lose to him.

It was also a bad night for Newt Gingrich, who was hoping that the south would give him the wins and momentum that he needed to survive.  Right now it  is looking like he is convincing himself that he can still make it.

These wins will help give more momentum to Rick Santorum and his campaign as he moves on to Illinois, Louisiana and all of the other states to come.  This primary race is far from over.

  1. You called it Shawn ! Another great night. The whole “we have the math on our side” argument of Romneys’s camp, doesn’t seem to be frightening off the base. They are voting with their hearts. Looks more and more like it will go to the convention. Wow.

    • Yes, Romney is losing the argument that he can remain the front runner. He is actually looking desperate now.

And it does look like we will be taking this to the convention.
