Prime Minister of Libya Mahmoud Jibril confirmed today that former Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi died of wounds that he sustained near his hometown of Sirte.
“Qaddafi is dead. He is absolutely dead … he was shot in both legs and in the head. The body will be arriving in Misrata soon,” media spokesman Abdullah Berrassali told Sky News.
Early this year the dictator faced strong opisition from a growing rebel group that was empowered after the people of Egypt rebelled. In this incident the leader was killed, where as in Egypt Mubarak stepped down.
Qaddafi’s son Seif al-Islam was captured in the attack that was supposedly done to capture Qaddafi. Seif was injured and is now in a Libyan hospital.
And thus ends the hunt for the dictator that ruled Libya for decades. Now we watch and hope for a better future for the country of Libya now that they have a chance for a fresh start. Pres. Obama himself made a special speech today because of this event.
